insuffler une nouvelle force à moi
Merci beaucoup à Wyeli -- I now know what books I'm going to buy with my $40 Dymocks voucher. I've decided to get Suite Française and The Time Traveller's Wife. Actually, no. I'm going to have a flick through of The Time Traveller's Wife. If not, I'm getting a Jennifer Cruisie. Vivian absolutely adores her books, so it might be time to try something new. That, or Judith McNaught.

I also have a new favourite flower -- the Rotary Sunrise. I was looking for pictures for userpics over on lj and found it. And it literally took my breath away.

Uni's started again. And as per normal, it's taking a bit of getting used to. This term it's working much better -- only in the first week and I've mostly let go of the selfishness I tend to harbour in the holidays. It helps that people are proud of me. Keeps me going, pushing me ahead when I stumble and stop and wonder why.

Oh, and I have the internet again!

HA! Victory over the... nothing really. Except I'm procrastinating majorly and Macs don't have a good Windows Media Player. *huffs annoyed*

Meh. At least I get to check my email... right?

Miss you all. But have been strangely productive because there's nothing to distract me. Except books. Mmm... might actually go buy some. Dymocks voucher and everything... *shrugs* I really want to read Suite Française, but also want something fluffy that doesn't require effort. Any suggestions? I have $40 from Grammar for services rendered. *rolls eyes* At least I'm actually getting paid for working there now.

Huh. So many things to post about. *sigh* Will do my best. If this cuts off halfway, then you know that it got late and I needed to go home. Oh gosh. Test tomorrow. Too bad I really can't be stuffed caring. Meh. Just Chinese.

My grandma called today. With my parents away. She just speaks Chinese and I just speak English. "Communication" was fun. Von sucks and needs to learn Chinese.

I've just come back from Sydney. Oh my goodness. Sydney-siders must be really fit from all the walking they do. Also really broke because transport costs so much. : I'd just stay right in the city, buy earplugs or learn to deal with the noise and walk everywhere. Got to see all the Sydney people, which was good. Thank you to Mutsumi (and Andrew) and Gerry for letting me stay at their houses. ^_^ Fighting with James to not sleep on the bed -- as usual, I lost.

Thursday: Woke up late. Had the quickest shower in history and was still late picking James up. Rushed home, and changed cars for Mum to send us to Jolimont. Then fell asleep on the bus. Had lunch and then met up with Mutsumi and Andrew and caught a taxi to their place and dropped my stuff off. Then called Wyeli (or did he call me?) and forced him to come see me, and then a lovely chat (or rather, listened to them pay me out. *huffs*). Then met up with Gerry and had dinner. She has an awesome apartment. So shiny! Then missed the 9pm bus back to East Ryde because we got lost trying to find the bus stop. Von decides here that she's selling everything and moving to the country.

Girly chats with Mutsumi, watching Andrew play computer games and then a stressful game of Jenga with many close calls. Thanks Andrew for letting us win! :P Then shower and bed time for meeeee!

Friday: Woke up freakishly early and couldn't go back to sleep, so decided to get up and leave for the city early. Crept out of the house at 8 and got to the city before 9. Then turned the wrong way up George St and ended up at The Rocks. *sigh* More exercise is good... right? Anyway arrived in the city in time to have breakfast, do a bit of Chinese (see?! I was studying, Tim!) and meet Mark after he got off the coach. Then went back to Gerry's flat and drop our stuff off (staying over at Gerry's because we were having dinner that night with everyone and didn't know what time it was going to end and had no wish to catch another late night bus and miss my stop again.). Then shopping -- mostly window shopping, but we went to Lush and I got stuff, then to JB Hi-Fi and we both got stuff!

Met up with Claire in World Square and had we both had lattes and Mark and I shared a lemon meringue tart. Von sneakily paid for everything and felt really proud of herself. :P Had a lovely chat and then walked her to Central to catch her bus. Then went back to the apartment and hassled the boys to come get me from downstairs. Went back to find them playing x-box. *rolls eyes* Had a shower and then went to meet Ling and Andrew in Chinatown to decide where to go for dinner. Went to Ramen-kan and Erica came! *happy dance* Had a great time eating takoyaki and hot spicy ramen. Couldn't finish it so had to get James to. : Von's turning into a girl with her appetite. It's quite bad. There was a time when I could finish everyone's food. *sigh* Went back to Gerry's flat with everyone but Ling :(, and talked and talked and talked and fell asleep while the boys were playing x-box and then woke up again to see Andrew off, then argued over the bed.

Saturday: Woke up at 8.30 and woke the boys up while rummaging through my bag for shower things. They went back to sleep when they found out the time, but I went to have a shower anyway. Then made pancakes with Gerry and James and ate heaps. It's fun making pancakes with a different recipe. Might try these some other time. They're like Macca's hotcakes, not thin and big like my crepes.

Then hurried to the train station to catch a train to meet up with Uncle Tony and Aunty Kwan in Chatswood. Bumped into two Mormon guys along the way (Lulu, Mutsumi and Dot, I'm pretty certain that one of them was one of the two guys that came knocking at our door in the summer. How odd.). Turns out that we couldn't catch the train all the way to Chatswood because of some repairs or another, so had to catch a bus that they provided. Were late for Mark's appointment, but not too late. Then had yummy yum cha at a place in Westfield and my tummyache went away so I could eat, too! Grocery shopping and then home time! Dinner at James' house and then came home to find Flinders inside and Dot asleep because her phone died and she couldn't find a lift.

And that was my interesting "weekend". Sunday -- nothing much. Grocery shopping with Dot and wasabi macadamia nuts. Food costs so much. :

Will update on everything else later -- my email is about to pop from having so many unread emails. Must do that now. Ciao!

A.R.G.H!!! I have kids coming out my ears. : Good news -- I didn't work yesterday. Bad news -- I did pretty much the same thing, but unpaid with tantrums. Le sigh.

Went to sleep at about 1 last night. Started work at 8. But 'twas worth it. I worked 8.25 hours today, but no, Claire, I'm not dead. The kids made 'detective folders' to solve a mystery that started yesterday. Was heaps fun to supervise and help them make it. They are soooo cute. This little girl called Ariel who still talks with a baby voice; Lauren whose detective badge I apparently lost (I so didn't! I gave it back to her!); little Anats (sp?) who didn't talk much; James whose manners have improved -- I didn't get any cheek from him today and he made a very good detective folder; Kathleen who knows my name... The kids went swimming today, so got a bit wet. You wouldn't believe how many little girls forgot their underwear. I mean, seriously. And then one girl burst into tears because she didn't want to wear her swimmers under her jeans. *gapes* But I never really realised how good Carol (Gathercole) is with kids -- I spent most of my time trying to avoid getting into the pool. Pool of Doom. POOL OF DOOM. *cough*

Yesterday was... interesting. Lots and lots of respect for stay-at-home mums now. I brought Daniel to Coles to get ingredients to make pancakes for breakfast. He had his protective arm and knee pads on and tried to skateboard from the car to Coles. So adorable! *pinches cheeks* And was a fairly good boy... until the checkouts. Where he saw the icecream. *smites the stupid people who thought of putting temptation for all the mums to deal with* Chucked a tears/snot/screaming tantrum and when I told him I was leaving sans rainbow icecream and it was up to him whether he wanted to go, he started screaming louder (if that's possible). Then this lady got him and brought him to me and was like "Here's Mummy. Tell Mummy 'here I am'." For goodness' sake! How can a 17 year-old possibly have a 5 year-old son?!

Anyway, we went home, and made pancakes and played outside a bit and then had yummy lunch that Dot made. Then we made a chocolate and pear cake for dessert (with my flashy food processor... it's not actually as bad as I thought it was) and while it was in the oven, I made him take a shower and did the dishes. Then went to the park and watched him go "Look at me! Here I am! I'm over here!"

Soooo tired and my room's a mess and the dishes aren't done. Must go!

Why does it start with anger? *is puzzled*

:: Blue is anger ::
1. Are you currently mad at someone?
Generally fed up at family, which is normal after a long weekend, and Easter's especially long. I should go hang out in Dot's room, which is what I normally do when I feel like this, but I just got told off for not studying, so here I am.

2. Which of your family members has the worst temper?
Dad, possibly.

3.Have you ever thrown something at anyone?
Yes, many a time. Well, nothing painful. Besides, I always miss the target.

4. Is anyone mad at you?
Yes, quite possibly.

5. Are you usually mad?
Crazy? Yes. Angry? Depends what at.

6. When you're mad do you prefer to stare angrily or yell?
Stare angrily and wait for them to get the hint and bugger off so I can yell.

:: Orange is excitement ::
1. Has anyone ever thrown a surprise party for you?
No. I don't deal with surprises too well.

2. What event is coming up that you're most excited about?
Uhh... I'm not really in an excited mood. It's more like a "I wish I had the foresight to buy an extremely expensive and fatty tub of icecream" mood.

3. If you won a million dollars, what would be your first thought?
Ok... what's wrong with it?

4. If you could have anything right now what would it be?
Icecream? A feel good movie. My favourite pillow.

:: Yellow is self-discovery ::
1.Your name: Yvonne
2. Birthday: 13th of June
3. What is your main goal in life?
To have done the best I can do for God, hurting as little people as possible on the way.

4. Do you want to have children?
I'd answer with another sarcastic question, but I suspect you've had enough of my snark for today. Yes.

5.When do you want to die?
As soon as God's ready to take me home.

:: Green is opinions ::
1. Are you against gay marriage?
Yes.

2. Lower the drinking age?
Good gracious, no.

4. Abortion?
As a rule, no.

:: Red is love ::
1. Do you love someone?
Why do you people keep asking me that question? To love is like to breathe.

2.Do you miss your ex ?
Depends what your definition of ex is. Either "I don't have one" or "As a friend, yes."

3. Do you believe in love at first sight?
No. It's not LOVE if it's at first sight. It's attraction... or lust.

4. Do you believe in love?
Yes.

:: Pink is life ::
The last...
1. Person you saw:
Dot.

2. Person you sent a text message to:
I don't send text messages. So... James.

3. Movie watched in cinema:
I... can't remember.

4. Song you listened to:

5. Person talked to on the phone:

:: Grey is today ::
1. What are you doing right now?
Doing Chinese.

2. What are you doing tonight?
Sleeping. Waiting for something cheerful to happen. Not really in the mood to create cheerfulness.

3. What are you going to eat?
Hopefully nothing else. I just polished off the block of dark chocolate, which must be incredibly healthy.

rapporter

I’ve been ordered by Tim to update, and so here I am.

Of cars and jumpstarts
I guess, first of all – my car broke down again today. We took my car to lunch today, and went to drop Tim off at the Phillip Iceskating Rink, because apparently Lulu, Tessa and the rest were going iceskating that day. Silly Von, it didn’t click when he said it at church, so we (ok, really James) drove there and we waited for Tim to get Lulu out to see us. Music playing, Mark paying James out, physical threats of all kinds, my world was normal. Then Timmy came back sans Lulu, and I remembered that I also got invited to iceskating… on Friday. Uh oh. Then we went, oh well, communication problems happen all the time, let’s just go have lunch and the car wouldn’t start. So we call Ken Li – he can come, but no jump start cable. Then we call Uncle Tony because we figure he’s nearer by, so he comes but we still can’t get the car to start. So, panicky Von calls Dad and he comes and it’s a miracle. Seems like Uncle Tony shouldn’t have trusted us to attach the cables because apparently we suck.

Oh, and the reason the battery died? Someone left the light on in the back seat. *sigh*

Of excitement and money spent
GUESS WHAT. I got the new Brooke Fraser cd today. I ditched James and Tim to go to JB Hi-fi, find the cd, get lost trying to find the cashier, but I’ve got it! (Besides, they were getting KFC, and you know what Von thinks of it all.) She is sooooo talented, and the lyrics are so sad.

Von: *hands Tim cd case* Read the middle bit – it’s so sad!
James: Why would you read something that was sad?
Tim: Maybe because people like sad things?

I love it love it love it. Yaaay for Albertine!

Of Easter Eggs and bouncy children
Apparently someone didn’t know I worked at after school care. Well here it is, in capital letters too, I WORK WITH CHILDREN. There you go.

Anyway, I was working on Thursday, and I think the children were exchanging Easter eggs all day, and by the time they go to after school care, some of them were really high. Like practically bouncing off walls high. Von was traumatised.

Of assignments and time spent well
Well, the last week of uni was crazy. Normally, I’m able to get my priorities straight and put people first, but I’ve been neglecting everyone this past week, and I’m soooo sorry. I will spend less time wasting time on the net, but instead will keep absolutely on top of my work, so come test period, I will still be able to talk to people. I even missed Bible Study on Wednesday, which I love. *sigh* I’m sorry, Joyce.

But it’s the holidays now, and I really need to catch up with people, which I don’t think I can end up doing. Because I got coerced into working. And also going to Sydney. But I want to go. I have people to catch up with, who I never get to talk to, mainly because internet is so unreliable. *sigh* But also because Von is a lazy bum.

Of change and cattiness

Tim: Now there’s the old Von, not the new catty Von.

Joke, or no, have I really changed that much? Is there an old Von and a new Von? What circumstances wrought this change? Is it a bad thing?

Aaaaand I think that’s it.

Le coeur
Even though I have my doubts about you never reading this… I’ll write anyway. I’m so grateful that I have you. Even though things might have been a lot more straightforward before, I’ve got you now and I’m not letting go. I wouldn’t be Von without you, because you’ve been around longer than most people I know, and knowing that you’ll be disappointed in me makes me try all the harder not to do it.

La jumelle
I’m so glad we’re talking more lately. I’ve missed you, but we’ve both changed, circumstances changed, and I’m glad that we still have that connection, though possibly not as strong as it once was. Again, I probably wouldn’t be the person I am today if I didn’t have you. I’m so proud to share a birthday with you.

La meilleure amie
I honestly don’t know what I do without you. You are so beautiful and I hope you know that. Whenever I need you, you’re always there for me and always have been. I know that, whatever is happening, that I can depend on you, and I feel equal, not leeching off you, not guilty, and yet I probably should. You’re my cool head when I’m irrational, you’re one of the few people who isn’t afraid of telling me when I’m being stupid, and I have a you-voice in my head. If I’ve known him for a long time, I’ve known you for longer because we’ve been friends for so much of it. I’m glad for it and I’m so sorry for being selfish.

L’insomniaque
I love that we can come together and bounce worries off each other and somehow feel better in the end. I know that I can count on you to be there to talk to you, no matter what time of the night. (That being said, I hope you’re asleep.) I love that you’re practically the only girl I keep in touch with. Is it too selfish to want you back here, so we can see each other, even though I know we probably won’t? Go to sleep!

L’inquiet
Your love for us amazes me. I don’t know how you can go on the way you do. The way you juggle all of your commitments and yet still make the time to get to know each and every one of us inspires me. I want to be more like you.

La chanteuse
I’m so sorry we haven’t talked as much this year. I love that you make such an effort to still keep in touch, I love you for generally being awesome and for giving it ago, even with your swimming analogies. Last year would not have been the same without you, and I would go back there, just so that I can have you again. I will always be here to listen and I’ll try to be more easily accessable this term.

La soeur
Even though people assume that we’re not that close, we kinda are, but not really. It’s odd. It’s a weird relationship, but I’m glad I have you. You’re like a buffer, or a buoy – almost everything is alright after a rant. Oh… and you supply me with pb m&m’s. Who could ask for more?

Le fils
If you worry, I worry too. I feel like I’ve been neglecting you for… other things. And I’m sorry. I’ll talk more, I promise. You’re growing up so fast, and I can’t keep up with you! I know this year’s different from the last, but I hope we won’t grow apart because of it. You’re a dear, and you make me smile with your harmonies and persistant hope that you’ll beat him one day. Keep dreaming, my dear, maybe one day…

La belle
I’ve really only gotten to know you recently, but what I have seen I’ve loved. I hope we can be better friends, because you’re gorgeous and I want to be there for you and be able to know you well enough to know what to say.

Tim: You're not thin... yet.
Von: *splutters incoherantly*
Tim: No, it's ok. You're on a diet... right?

passer du temps
Loving really starts when you put aside what you want and think about what's important to someone else. (Of course, that is not to say that you don't object when you think something's not right, just, you know, at the right time. Unlike me at HisFame last year.) I'm just ashamed to admit that it's taken me a good 5-6 weeks to figure that out.

2 days to holidays! 3 days in Sydney with Mutsumi! *happy dance*

avoir besoin de
*stares in horror* There are pimples! Ok, so normally there are pimples, but these are like a virus, they just keep on coming! ARGH, the stress! How am I supposed to be pretty in the holidays (I look like a hag, but that's ok, everyone's too tired to notice) if these THINGS keep coming?!

fondre

This time what I want is you
There is no one else
Who can take your place

This time you burn me with your eyes
You see past all the lies
You take it all away

I’ve seen it all
It was never enough
It keeps leaving me needing you

Take me away
Take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
Just take me away

I try to make my way to you
But still I feel so lost
I don’t know what else I can do

Don’t give up on me yet
Don’t forget who I am
I know I’m not there yet
But don’t let me stay here alone

Is it possible that one song can apply to two things? At the same time? To one: you know what I think; to the Other: You probably know better what I think than I do, but... I need You forever and for always, don't leave me.

se tenir à l'affût
wWAAAH!!! 1 week to holidays! I don't think you can tell how much I can't wait for it! Like, I know it'll come with bad things (like cleaning my room), but the good things far outweigh the bad (or you know, ONE good thing far outweighs the bad, therefore all the others will completely win by a landslide). Von is in happy happy excited mood, but not so happy happy excited that she forgets that she still has to finish linguistics assignment. SCREW NASALS! *cough* Yes. Well.

The holidays:
Pros (or at least... things that Von hopes to do):
  • shopping! Retail therapy and a new wardrobe!
  • Sydney trip -- seeing Mutsumi, going to Lush and shopping!
  • spending more time with people
  • day with Dot -- shopping and renting movies
  • day with Lynn -- run and 100 sit-ups (Oh gosh. How does she do it?!)
  • day with Wan Sze -- shopping shopping shopping!
  • coffee with Claire -- no strong stuff for you! Only lattes and other yummy milky stuff.
  • something with Meera (ARGH! We need to catch up!)
  • something with Lulu (Hyatt? Double date? 'Tis up to you!)
  • something with Tessa (also up to you! I just want to get together!)
  • something with Ness (Because I missss youuuuu)
  • something with Alex (because we were pretty much inseparable in Year 12 and now? Nothing. :/)
  • bake for the kiddies (Yes, I still owe Mark gingerbread men)
  • reading
  • little notes to people, because Nick Nick loves them
  • time to talk to people!
The cons:
  • obligatory spring cleaning
  • working on orals
  • working -- all day Monday and Tuesday of the second week of our holidays and first of the normal people's holidays; 3-6pm Thurday and Friday (probably) of the first week
  • trying to fit in all that I want to do
  • the money I'll be spending

Seeeee?! Von is happy!!!

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, in your name I will lift up my hands psalm63.1-4
